Letter to Businesses
Breastfeeding is good for babies and mothers. And welcoming breastfeeding babies and mothers to your business may be good business, too.
Why? As one local mother put it:
“When I’m shopping sometimes my little one gets fussy and hungry. We need a quiet place to nurse. When a business doesn’t have a place, our trips are cut short and I leave without making planned purchases. I appreciate and favor businesses where I know, if my baby is hungry, I can comfortably meet his needs.”
We are writing to invite your partnership as a Family Friendly Business. You will join the community groups and services that support breastfeeding families. Our goal is to make it easier for mothers to nurse their little ones when they are out shopping or dining.
To become a Family Friendly Business, we ask you to provide:
-A welcoming attitude to nursing mothers and their babies
-A comfortable, clean place (other than a restroom) for a mother to breastfeed her baby--a dressing room or a quiet corner is just fine.
In exchange, the Family Friendly Business initiative will:
-List your business as Family Friendly in information available to mothers
-Provide a logo to place in the window of your business if you choose to display it
- Offer a handout with suggestions for employees
-List your business and map its location on the Family Friendly Business website and Facebook page
Thank you for considering this invitation to become a Family Friendly Business. To become part of this opportunity or if you have questions about the initiative, please email:
